Chailey School Annual Remembrance Service
Today, we held our third annual Remembrance Service in school. As always, I was incredibly proud to be the Head Teacher of a school where students are so respectful of the sacrifices made by others.
The service consisted of two famous war poems, read by Georgia Dumbrill and Connor Richardson, our Deputy Head students. This was followed by the ‘Exhortation’. The last post was sounded by Mr Baxter and some students from the brass section of the orchestra before our minute’s silence. The service concluded with the ‘Reveille’ (The Rouse).
In assemblies this week, Mr Dudgeon focussed on three local casualties from the First World War; Sister Mary Rodwell, Thomas Victor Wood (Royal Sussex) and Alfred Hodges (Royal Sussex). Their stories are interesting and we have a lasting display to remember them and all those that have died in conflicts, in our reception area.
