Chailey School Equestrian Team

On Saturday 9th November, the Chailey School Equestrian Team of Tilly Appleyard 10WD on Malone, Amy Newton 11FI on Tom, Alex Page 9FI on Bailey and Ben Pollard 9AS on Bridie entered the Eventers Challenge (75cm) at Felbridge.  This was a qualifier for the Championships at Hickstead in May.  Tilly and Amy both had lovely clear rounds, Alex had an unlucky pole down and Ben an unlucky stop at the spookiest jump in the course.  The team finished on 4 faults and were 3rd place.  Unfortunately only the top 2 teams qualify so they just missed out on qualification this time but will be out again in the new year to try again!

On Saturday 23rd November, the same team headed to Petley Wood near Battle to compete in the County Show Jumping Qualifier (80cm).  The winner of this competition goes on to represent East Sussex at the championships at Hartbury in Gloucestershire in April.  Again Tilly went clear but this time Amy had an unlucky stop, Alex again had 4 faults and Ben had 2 stops, again at the spooky jumps.  The team therefore finished on 8 faults and were 6th out of 12 teams.  So no qualification this time but a lovely team atmosphere and great experience for them all.  Tilly entered the 90cm as an individual and went clear and came 9th out of 70.

Well done Team Chailey and we will keep you updated with future competitions!
