Chailey welcomes children from Belarus
Chailey School invited a group of students from Belarus into school on Friday, 16th June.
The students, aged 7-12, were on an annual visit to England care of the Friends of Chernobyl Children, a mid-Sussex based charity.
Set up after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986, the charity arranges for a month in England each summer as a respite from the polluted landscape of their homes.
They are all staying with host families in the local area.
They enjoyed PE, making ‘Melting Moments’ in Food Tech, an Art lesson and a Science lesson. They also had refreshments in the library and lunch in the canteen.
The day gave them the opportunity to explore education in an English school and to meet lots of our students.
