Chailey welcomes Helen Key, our new Headteacher
We are delighted to welcome Helen Key to Chailey School as our new Headteacher.
It is a privilege to be able to introduce myself to you as the new Headteacher of Chailey School.
During the last few months I have had the opportunity to meet with a number of students, staff, governors and parents and it is apparent to me that Chailey School is a dynamic learning environment where everyone is prepared to work hard in order to succeed. The community is justifiably proud of their school and its fantastic achievements.
My over-riding belief is that education sets a young person free to experience the life they choose. The desire and confidence for young people to set aspirational goals comes from feeling safe, happy and secure and having great role models around them. Chailey School is lucky to have a very well qualified and motivated staff willing to ‘go the extra mile’ for the students.
I will ensure that the school continues to focus on securing the very best outcomes for our students through high quality teaching and learning. Over the coming weeks, months and years, how our young people are performing in the classroom will determine their future career paths and life chances. It’s vital that our students are serious, ambitious and determined to succeed and secure the qualifications necessary to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. Students must also be given the opportunity to develop their skills outside of the classroom. I have been really impressed by this provision at Chailey School and will ensure it is retained and enhanced. Whatever talents our children have, we must create the environment in which these abilities can flourish. Students at Chailey School have a huge range of opportunities to participate in extra - curricular activities and this is an area where our staff make a significant commitment.
Outstanding schools are outward looking and build positive links across their community that bring benefits to the wider area. Chailey School has a strong tradition in this area, both through the Newick Teaching Alliance and beyond, and I will continue to explore and develop links that benefit all our students.
