Miss Purcell writes:
This week is Science Week and we have been carrying out a number of exciting events to celebrate it.
During lessons, every child was shown a Rubens tube by their teacher. This displays sound waves made of fire.
The students could play their music through the tube and see the flames dance depending on the frequency of the sound produced.
The photo shows a group of Year 10 students enjoying the Rubens tube demonstration.
We have also been running extra lunchtime clubs; Explosions Club where teachers demonstrated exciting experiments, Rocket Club where students made and tested their own rockets, and Dissection Club where students dissected rats.
It has been a very busy but enjoyable week in the Science department!
