The John Muir Award
Six students were presented with the John Muir Award Certificate today.
This Award has enhanced their awareness of wild places, and they have enjoyed taking responsibility for them and sharing their experiences.
This morning the students, accompanied by Mr Dudgeon, who has been closely involved in the project, invited the teachers in our Science department to see the woodland they have been exploring and working in, and shared with them all the improvements they have introduced to the area. These include carefully mown paths through the grassy areas, which are full of wild flowers, insects, butterflies and moths at the moment.
In the words of John Muir himself, "When I was a boy .... I was fond of everything that was Wild, and all my life I've been growing fonder and fonder of Wild Places and Wild Creatures."
Mr Dudgeon with Sam Tamkin, Sophia Von Der Becke, Tom Baty, Mrs Hawkley, Faculty Team Leader, Science, Felix Booth, Scott Bowden and Conor Baker
