Winning GCSE Art work goes on display
Dawn Johnson - Teacher in charge of Art writes:
Farleys Yard Arts awards are a bi-annual celebration of the high level of creativity and visual arts at GCSE and A level In schools and Post 16 colleges in East Sussex.
Students work is selected to take part in the Exhibition held a Farley Farmhouse in Chidingly, home of the Surrealists Lee Miller and Roland Penrose.
The trust awards were presented last Friday, 13th October by Question time presenter and journalist, David Dimbleby. Chailey students selected to exhibit were Shylee Dobson in the GCSE sculpture category, Nia Phillips and Jasmine Guildford Pearce in the competitive GCSE painting category. We are pleased to announce that Jasmine Guildford Pearce was presented with Highly commended Certificate for her work 'In Memoriam' in the Painting category. Nia Phillips achieved the 'Surrealist Prize' coming top from all the entries at both GCSE and A level across all schools in the exhibition. I know she found this overwhelming as part of her prize is to have her work exhibited at Farley Farmhouse along side the Surrealists for the forthcoming year.
Many congratulations to all three students .
The Awards Exhibition is open for the next 3 Sundays 15, 22, 29th October.
