Year 10 students visit Sussex University
Miss BartlettBundy writes:
On Friday, 18th September, nine Year 10 students enjoyed a trip to Sussex University taking part in an enrichment day organised by the Further Mathematics Support Programme.
The students were treated to an excellent key note talk by Rob Eastaway, (author of "Why do buses come in threes?" and other fun maths books), exploring the maths behind everday fun games and revealing top tips such as how to win at Monopoly! The students also took part in three workshops covering the topics of magic tricks, the maths behind bridge building, and cryptology (the study of creating and cracking codes).
Many schools were represented at this event and the Chailey students did us proud: asking and answering lots of questions, volunteering to take part on stage and winning many of the prizes of chocolate and magic trick props.
