Visit to Chailey Heritage Patchwork Farm
On Thursday 29th September, six Year 7 Charity Reps visited Chailey Heritage to support the launch of a new therapy farm that they are fundraising to be built in their grounds.
Chailey Heritage is a local learning centre for children and young people with complex disabilities.
We were delighted to attend the wonderful event and understand how the project will help so many people learn and enjoy the company of animals and pets. It is important that the young people at Chailey Heritage have the opportunity to learn about the animals and care for them.
The launching event was a great way to introduce the project to the local community and encourage the fundraising for the fantastic cause. An array of different animals were available to be petted including sheep, goats, donkeys, rabbits, dogs and guinea pigs. There were crafty activities and opportunities to meet some of the staff and children of Chailey Heritage. Excitingly, Guest of Honour, the well known TV and stage actor, Christopher Timothy, was available to launch the Patchwork Farm project by making an inspiring speech about the importance of animals in the education of young people.
He dug the first spade in the ground to symbolise that the project had begun.
We are excited about wonderful project and can’t wait to raise some money at Chailey School for Patchwork Farm.
