Raingarden Project

Ali Wheeler from Nature Links came to talk to Year 8 about the Rain Garden project she led with ten Year 8 students. The students received an award for the contribution they made to designing and carrying out the project which involved creating natural drainage for run off from the roof and road to reduce the flood risk. The students dug trenches and lined them with a variety of materials to allow water to be channelled to a soakaway type of depression in the ground. They also planted a variety of species of plant. All students in the assembly were offered leaflets inviting them to take part in other conservation projects.
