Steve Willis Training

On Thursday, we welcomed Luke & Adam from Steve Willis Training to Chailey School.  They ran three apprenticeship, plumbing and heating engineering workshops for 44 of our Year 10 students.

Students were given the option to sign up to these workshops during tutor time last week and we were delighted with the uptake, particularly because we had 9 girls sign up which was fantastic, of the 150,000 heating engineers in the UK only 0.23% are female!

The students learnt about the apprenticeships that Steve Willis Training offer and then did some practical work building a piping circuit. The students were engaged throughout and demonstrated a number of transferable skills, such as listening, team work, leadership and organisation.  They had a chance to demonstrate some technical skills too, such as measuring, pipe cutting and circuit building, using their maths and DT knowledge.
