On Monday, a group of Year 8 students travelled to Plumpton College as part of their tree-planting programme. This was also part of our own school's work with increasing biodiversity in the local community. At Plumpton, the students learned about the purpose and value of such planting, learned the techniques to carry out the task, and then got stuck in - in some cases quite literally considering the muddy conditions! Nothing would stop them though, and lots of native species (oak, wild cherry, beech, whitebeam and holly) were soon in the ground.
